2010 - 2011 Richfield Ambassadors
Richfield Hometown 4th of July Ambassadors

Over their year reign, these five young women travel across the state of Minnesota promoting the city of Richfield and our Hometown Fourth of July Celebration.  In a sense, these ladies are Public Relations Officers.  They carry the spirit of Richfield everywhere they go.  The three ambassadors are also able to practice the skills drawn from the candidate program.  At the end of their reign, the three ambassadors will receive an academic scholarship to aid in higher educational goals and the two junior ambassadors will recieve savings bonds.

2010 - 2011 Ambassadors: Baza Haille- Selasse, Mara LeBlanc, Virginia Sanchez, ShayLee Bartelle, Erin Jones

History

The Richfield Ambassador Program grew out of the Richfield Hometown 4th of July Celebration.  Like many cities, people wanted royalty to reign over the festival.  While there were Miss Richfield’s in the past, they were not part of the 4th of July Celebration.  With the crowning of the first Miss Richfield in 1982 (she won based on the number of buttons she sold!), came this program.  The Richfield Ambassador Program is run as part of the Richfield 4th of July Committee.  The Richfield Ambassador Program has grown and evolved into what it is today- a chance for young adults to better themselves while having a lot of fun and volunteering.

In 1996 the title Ambassador was added to help explain what the royalty do- goodwill ambassadors for the festival.  In 2001, the first Little Miss Richfield was crowned.  In 2008, it was changed from one queen and two princesses to three equal ambassadors.  That same year, two equal Junior Ambassador were crowned.

2010 will mark the 27th group crowned in Richfield.  Five young ladies will get a chance to continue on this tradition of service and royalty.
